The Fatal Blow!

by Onichild on May 15, 2012 at 4:36 am
Posted In: Artwork, Blog, Site

“The ending blow is a secret technique you can use to end their breath before they spring back into action.”

A few weeks ago, we had a Link’s Technique for the poll.  Ending/Fatal Blow was the winner, and here is the prize!
This is actually the first Skyward Sword fan art piece by myself and for Zeldanime! Kind of late there, but hey, I think this came out pretty well for taking only an hour or so, eh?

Enjoy!

How about a new poll, too?

It’s been a while since we asked for your feedback, and with the vigorous work on the pages, we left the poll unchanged so that we could focus on the comic.  But! It needs to be updated.

There are a bunch of different types of genres where we have seen Zelda fan art cross into.  Thought this should be a fun one, so why don’t we give it a shot, too?

“What kind of theme would you like to see an illustration of?”
Superhero/villain = Classic comic book hero
Steampunk = …What is it, anyway? Like really.  We all know what it looks like but…what is it? :P
Futuristic Sci-fi = Speaks for itself, yeah?
Cultural = Where we take the culture from could be anywhere~ Depends on how we feel when the poll results are in!
Modern = Our day!
Kid’s Show = I expect whatever to come out of this to be really…wacky.
Chibi = Yup, we know what this is! Too cute.
Noir = 20′s-30′s detective.  Smooth~

A new page!

We updated a new page featuring Princess Zelda!

It looks like we also figured out why the thumbnail wouldn’t update for the “Latest Page” on the sidebar, too! Now it’s fixed!

Announcement! – A few site updates

by Onichild on April 17, 2012 at 3:59 am

Hello fans!

We have some news for you!

As you may have already noticed, we changed the look of our site, slightly–new colors, new menu, new banner!

So, first off, the poll: We want to know what you think of it!
How does the new look suit you? Do you like the new dark look to match the banner’s background colors or would you prefer something a bit more vibrant?
Crazyfreak was trying to match the mood of the latest comic pages’ update; with that in mind, we would like to hear your suggestions.

Please use the comments in this blog post to post your opinions.  Thanks!

Wrapping up the news on polls, Fatal/Ending Blow has (surprisingly) won.  I honestly thought this would have been one of the choices lower on the list and that either Sword beam or the Spin Attack would have won this one.

A Project Update:

I have sketched out the next five pages out of (estimated) nine or ten for the next batch!
Things are getting exciting, and in the next scene, we are back to Link battling Dodongo!

Next news:

We were looking over our stats and we noticed a small decline in our numbers for the last update.  Of course, this is alarming for us.  So, after some research, we are going to try something.
Even though we had a poll on the matter a while back, saying we should post the pages in scenes and not one-by-one (which we agree), we are going to try to post the next batch of pages as soon as they are finished.

Meaning, you will see a new page possibly once a week, maybe every two weeks (depending on our workload) but we will try our best to get them done as fast as possible (like always!)

Now, this is not a permanent change.  We’re experimenting.  This is something that most other webcomics are doing that we are not; we wanted to give you the full impact of the scenes, which is why we would wait for all of them to be finished before we posted, but due to the reaction we received in the last update, we need to change something.
We’re going to test this method out and see how it goes.

Expect a new page very shortly!

Pixel Nation interviews VA Zelda cartoons

by Crazyfreak on April 15, 2012 at 6:16 pm
Posted In: Zelda news

The very first edition of the UK magazine Pixel Nation featured a two page interview with the voice actors of Link and Zelda.

Zelda Universe member Janus recently posted the most interest tidbits from the interview:

  • The writer came up with “Excuse me, Princess,” but Jonathan Potts came up with the delivery.
  • Yes, he has seen the YouTube video putting all instances of that line together.
  • Cynthia Preston was shooting a movie a few years ago, and a young costar mentioned that she looked liked Princess Zelda. Her response was, “Are you teasing me? I am Princess Zelda!”
  • Preston mentions that the director once mooned her during recording, getting a more believable laugh from Zelda.
  • Both the actors had a lot of fun and would do it again, though Potts says that he’s not surprised the series was canceled.

Another interesting tidbit from the interview is that no one from Nintendo ever visited the animation studio  for any kind of direction or advice of what the Zelda series should be like.  I know much Zelda fans dislike the cartoons, but hey, they were the first featuring a kickass princess Zelda, a fairy as Link’s guide, Link as a ghost, Dark Zelda and of course a romance between Link & Zelda. I find it pretty interesting that DIC alone  came up with this.

Here’s hoping that Jonathan Potts & Cynthia Preston know about Zeldanime and see it as a tribute for their legendary input in the Zelda series.

Crazyfreak testing her markers

by Crazyfreak on April 6, 2012 at 8:36 pm
Posted In: Artwork

So here’s the story, around 15 till 18 years old me thought it was very cool to have markers. Because markers are just awesome and traditional art looks very pretty with it! Past Crazyfreak bought over a 100 of these overpriced things… and actually never really used them other then for five-six drawings. *facepalm*

I’m now trying not to regret my investment in these things, so here’s another attempt to traditional art! I miss the undo button already…
